To avert the worst impacts of climate change, we must, in the words of Governor Evers’s Task Force on Climate Change, take “bold action to reduce the use of fossil fuels and pivot to renewable energy.” The Task Force recognized that this means opposing all new or expanding fossil fuel infrastructure, including pipelines.
Wisconsin is at the center of a network of pipelines carrying one of the most carbon-intensive fuels on the planet, tar sands oil. Watch this 350 Madison/Sierra Club Tar Sands Team webinar to learn where the pipelines are located, who owns them, what risks they pose, who’s leading the fight against them, and what you can do to help. Special attention is given to Enbridge’s Line 3 in Minnesota and its Line 5 reroute in northern Wisconsin. Presenters include Paul DeMain, Honor the Earth board chair; Elizabeth Ward, Sierra Club Wisconsin chapter director; and Phyllis Hasbrouck, Tar Sands Team co-lead.
